According to GUTA, appointing efficient Ministers will help address their grievances.

Already, there are reports that Executive Director for Databank Financial Services, Ken Ofori-Atta and businessman, Alan Kyeremanteng have been tipped as Minister of Finance and Trade respectively.

Speaking to Citi Business News, the National Executive member of GUTA, Benjamin Yeboah explained that appointing ministers to some ministries such as Finance, and Trade was important.

“We believe that the first thirty days can be used in getting who will man the trade ministry, especially for us in the business community. Now, luckily we know it is going to be Honorable Alan Kyeremanten who is going to Trade because that is where for we in the business community, we usually have our interactions with trade being our sector ministry.”

He stated that the association expects the President to scrap the 3 percent special import levy as well as restore the 3% flat VAT rate which was increased to 17.5 percent, all within 30 days in power.

“Now, that 3% special levy should go to give importers some relief. That is one thing we are looking at immediately. Also something that we feel they can work on which will even inure to the benefit of the state is bringing back the 3%flat VAT rate.”

Yeboah stated that the new government can revamp businesses in the private sector if such concerns are taken into consideration.

Meanwhile, Citi Business News took to the streets of Accra to find out the expectations of workers in the informal as President Nana Akufo- Addo’s administration takes office.

A carpenter, Robert who works at Adabraka lays bare his expectations from the present government within a month.

“Government should check the contracts awarded to foreigners who put up buildings because we the carpenters get paid very little.”

Rita, a beautician also expressed optimism in the Nana Akufo-Addo government stating that the government must do well to forfill all promises.

“What I want from him[NanaAkufo-Addo] is for him to provide jobs and ensure constant availability of water and electricity in all areas to enhance our businesses” she said.
